Gratitude. How do you practice it? How do you acknowledge it daily? I found a way that speaks to my scrappy heart.
Practicing gratitude is something I’ve dabbled in before, but something is different this time. As part of my online art journaling course, I had to get deliberate about how to integrate this practice into my life. In the past, I’ve written five things I’m grateful for in a journal or iPhone app at the end of the day. But those lists never seemed to make it anywhere. This time, while watching a video with Brené Brown and Ali Edwards, it hit me: Project Life cards!
I have a rather large collection of cards for a person who doesn’t really do PL. This is how I will integrate it into my scrapbooks from now on. I chose a PL collection, this one is Midnight, and set a stack of 3×4 cards next to my bed. Each night, I record the things I am grateful for from that day. At the end of the month, I will combine those cards with some of my favourite every day photos to create a monthly gratitude spread.
Here is my February spread. (It’s actually only half the month, since I started part way through.) Some of the 3×4 gratitude cards have layers on top that can be opened, some are cut and layered, but many are just slipped into pockets.
Supplies: Project Life Midnight 3×4 and 4×6 cards, Me and My Big Ideas Pocket Pages, Wedding Collection, Amy Tangerine for American Crafts washi tape, Omiyage washi tape, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher, VersaMagic Dew Drop ink
Oh wow Cheryl – this is wonderful. I really like the black / yellow / white / kraft concept and reading your gratitudes (is that even a word?) was very inspiring! Thanks for sharing.
