Plan Pages with your Silhouette

I love our Sketchtorian sketches by Shar. (Say that three times!) I love the hand-drawn look and how much thought she puts in. Inspired by her recent one, I wanted to try my own sketch. I thought about what elements I like in a sketch, and jotted them down next to a page idea. The page layout is scrap-lifted (with permission) from a layout I saw in a Facebook Project Life group. Julia had used PL cards for her background and I loved it!

My sketch began like this …

And ended like this …

I decided I wanted to have accurate measurements to see how things would fit on the page. I thought about drawing it in Photoshop, but soon realized it would be faster and easier to use my Silhouette Cameo software. I drew all the boxes, fixed the sizes to 3×4 and 4×6 and then started playing with placement. Knowing exactly how much room all the elements would need allowed me to add a background paper and embellishments. (The word art cut files are by Tanya Batrak and available in the Silhouette online store.)

The layout was a lot of fun, probably because it was the first in months! It looks different from the paper sketch and the Silhouette plan. Funny how that works!

Supplies: Crate Paper paper, Maggie Holmes Project Life cards, Best of Maggie Holmes paper, Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper chipboard (from the original collection, I can’t find a link, sorry!), unknown Project Life card, Silhouette store cut file, Tim Holtz distress ink in Black Soot, American Crafts Thickers, Fancy Pants letter stickers

That’s it for me, happy scrapping!
